Linchpin

Stage 5 of 5 · AccountComing soon

Accounts that keep themselves. The day book, the ledgers and the VAT register, from work already done.

In most distributors the accountant types the month again: every bill, every invoice, every cheque, from paper into a spreadsheet or another package. In Linchpin each of those entries already happened once, so the books are a view of them, not a copy.

Coming soonThis part of Linchpin is being built. It runs on the same numbers as purchase and stock, so nothing is typed twice when it arrives. This page shows how it will work.

What a week becomes

Three entries in the old khata: the vendor’s bill, the sale to Sita Kirana and her cheque. The accountant copies them in by hand today.

What it will do

  • Day book

    2083/06/29 · 23 entries

Every document of the day, in order, with who entered it. The first place to look when a figure does not add up.

  • Customer and vendor ledgers

    Sita Kirana · 0.00

Each shop and each vendor on one page: bills, receipts, returns and what is left, with the age of every open bill.

  • VAT register, IRD order

    Sales book · Purchase book

One row per invoice in date and number order, taxable value and VAT apart, credit notes as negatives in the same run, ready for the VAT return.

  • Reconciliation

    Bank · cheques · cash

What the bank says against what Linchpin expects: cheques deposited but not cleared, transfers not yet matched.

  • Scheme claims

    Claim · Himal Foods

Free goods and schemes you gave on a company’s behalf, totalled into a claim to send them, with the invoices behind it.

  • Nothing is rewritten

    Reversal, not erase

A filed entry is never edited away. A mistake is corrected with an entry of its own, so the books always show what happened.
